The autumn weather can be depressing but travelling and seeing exciting new places can definitely lift you out of the gloomy mood. In the summer it might be best to get out of the city. Cities are not so great in the summer due to lack of fresh air caused by tall buildings and traffic. However autumn is wonderful for exploring what cities have to offer because it is no longer boiling hot but not too cold yet either.
NEW YORK CITY
NYC is the capital of night life. No matter what night of the week it is, you can always find something entertaining to do, whether it be a concert, a small gig, a comedy show or a gallery opening. In 2019 the city has been voted the best in the world for its cultural diversity and is also considered a home to the largest LGBT+ population in US of over 570 000 people.
LONDON
With over 1,500 exhibition spaces, lots of galleries, theatres, international cuisine and big parks London has a lot to offer. Don’t just go and see the Big Ben and London Eye, these are the least interesting parts of this busy city. Go on a walk down the South Bank, head to Battersea park or Greenwich’s Royal Observatory. Feed squirrels in St. James’ park and check out the Camden market.
PARIS
Smaller in popular than NYC and London but any less fun. This romantic and architecturally beautiful city has a lot to offer. Paris has a lot of must-have beautiful landmarks such as Arc De Triomphe, which has recently been wrapped in 25 000 sq metres of recyclable polypropylene fabric in silvery blue designed by Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Remember to try Parisian croissants!
MILAN
For a long time regarded as the capital city of fashion, Milan, has a lot to offer. There is the Prada Fondazione for art and fashion lovers, it is worth seeing it even just for the building and the cafe itself. Remember to go and see Duomo di Milano, Sforzesco Castle and The Modern Art Gallery and remember to go dance the night off to some Italo Disco and eat some Milanese Pizza.
BERLIN
Berlin’s art and club scene is getting igger with a lot of creatives migrating there to work. Whether you are there for the club scene or to see historical buildings and learn about Berlin’s detailed past, you won’t be bored. Berlin has polycentric organisation and large variety of architecture. We recommend you go to the Karl-Marx-Allee which is a socialist boulevard to see building in the style of Socialism Classicism.
LOS ANGELES
The warmest of the cities above, LA is a good travel destination for those who are in need of sunshine but don’t want to overheat. Being so large and spread out means you really need a car to make the most of your trip, so don’t forget to prepare a car hire and make sure you meet all the requirements such as owning a credit card which are usually required by companies.
