Rihanna is back with another dominating venture from her global bad gal brand Fenty, launching her first fashion collection for the Fenty label with French luxury conglomerate Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, known as LVMH. Celebrity collaborations are becoming ever more a force in the luxury fashion world however this launch goes one step further marking a moment in history as Rihanna becomes both the youngest and the first black woman to head a luxury fashion house part of LVMH.
Known for her bold fashion statements Rihanna introduced the Fenty label on May 24 in Paris showcasing her intentions and inspiration behind the collection. Rihanna is the muse of this collection, evident in the structured silhouettes, fabric choices and edgy aesthetic throughout. Something that Rihanna portrays as a designer is how fashion should be fun, there for us to play with and express ourselves, always referencing how “Fashion is Drag”. This is something that comes across as Fenty plays with fabrics and silhouettes, combining both classic and trendy elements to launch a new fashion brand.
The collection is ruled by the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine, with strong structured shoulders teamed with cinched waists and short hemlines. Rihanna has taken typically classic fashion staples and reworked them into something playful but ultimately workable. Suiting and denim are two of the main influences within this collection, taking form in bold oversized jackets that play with scale, pushing our staples outside of their comfort zone.
Fenty by Rihanna is already making waves in the luxury fashion world and we are taking inspiration from the looks having chosen some pieces we think are best for putting together a luxury look for less inspired by Fenty.
