The ultimate guide to the latest sustainable fashion products this Christmas as well as great tips to have earth friendly celebrations

Christmas is one of my favourite time of the year. I love getting cozy by the fire with my family, cook and eat all the delicious Christmas recipes and give and receive gifts! Yet the amount of rubbish after the celebrations is actually scary so my family and I have been making some changes over the past few years. First, we organise a Secret Santa. All of us believe in quality over quantity and this decision was made after realising that most of the presents we were exchanging were unnecessary items that would end up in the bin before the next Christmas. Plus it was quite a time and money consuming task. Besides, we try to use alternatives to wrapping paper. My favourite being a Japanese gift wrapping technique called Furoshiki, which looks just gorgeous and is a gift within itself.

Below I have curated a range of sustainable fashion products available at Modafirma as well as pre-owned items and sustainable beauty products. I truly believe that as consumers we should be voting with our pockets and if you’re able to, support these independent brands. Each of these brands are actively incorporating sustainable business and manufacturing processes so if we’re giving these brands the attention they rightly deserve; hopefully this can encourage the big brands to follow suite.

If you want to find out more about sustainable fashion or if you like the look of one of these brands, I highly encourage you to visit their site and read up about them. You can also watch videos like the one below so that you can make more informed choices when you shop in the future too!

About Live the Process:
Activewear brand created in 2013 by Robyn Berkley and partner Jared Vere. It places mindfulness and wellness in its core ideals and it manufactures locally to reduce its carbon footprint. It does not use fur, leather, down, animal skin or angora and it uses some eco-friendly materials including recycled materials.

About Wolf & Badger:
A personal favourite of mine, not only because I love jewellery but also because of how transparent they are with their production processes and business practices. The independent designers at Wolf & Badger are local so there is a low carbon footprint and they need to show evidence of their sustainability practices such as waste minimisation.

About Stella McCartney:
Stella McCartney is the proof you can be fashionable and sustainable. It uses eco-friendly materials including organic cotton and it implements circularity initiatives in its supply chain. Besides, is a member of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) so it traces most of its supply chain and it has a policy to prevent deforestation.

About Bottega Veneta:
Bottega Veneta is definitely giving a step in the right direction. Not only it as a good labour ranking but it has also reduced the chemicals used in the fabrication process and it has set a science-based target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated from its operations and supply chain.

About Ode to Sunday:
Ode to Sunday is an independent clothing line manufacturing effortless style through socially conscious methods. Lithuanian linen is used for its low-impact production and characterful imperfections. Garments defined by modern strokes and organic silhouettes are constructed entirely by hand by tailors paid fairly. This appreciation for local resources and historic processes, combined with a focus on quality, ethics and wearability builds an investment wardrobe, and helps to sustain a world in which pleasure is found in letting mind and body wander.

About Guava & Gold:
Brands like Guava & Gold are great if you’re looking for a sustainable body lotion. Not only are all ingredients from their products sustainably sourced, all products come in fully recyclable bottles and packaging. There’s also plans to change all of their packaging to bio-polymer bottles made from sugar cane extract so as to further their impact on the environment.

About Kalmar:
While some brands focus on sustainability through their packaging strategies and product formulas, other brands choose to invest in sustainable causes and people. Not only do Kalmar implement sustainable practices into their products, they also invest profits back into sustainable causes and communities around them. So far they’ve invested into carbon neutrality by joining the Forest Carbon’s Carbon100 Club, which means for every product sold Kalmar and the Carbon Club will plant a tree in woodlands across the UK to offset the result carbon footprint. They’ve also invested in causes like the Black Mind Matter and Women for Women to name a few.

About buying pre-owned:
We all know sustainability is a complicated topic because there is always space for improvement. Some people will argue that Chanel and Cartier are not sustainable brands, which is true, but I believe that give items a second life is sustainable because is one less product in the landfill, that is the beauty of vintage. So buying pre-owned luxury items is a perfect way for anyone that wants to add an element of luxury to their sustainability practices.
