Description

Tasting Notes Cloudy Bay’s Chardonnay is often overlooked because of the popularity of their Sauvignon Blanc. But neglect this at your peril. A powerful and exotic little number with deep complexity; think lemon posset, honeysuckle, spice, lemon peel, toasted hazelnuts, ripe peaches, marzipan, orange peel, struck matches and just blown-out candles. Pair this magnificent Chardonnay with garlic mushrooms, buttery Jersey Royals, roasted chicken stuffed with preserved lemon and rubbed in za’atar, Chinese dumplings and dim sum, or roasted cauliflower tacos with mango salsa and guacamole. One of the first few wineries established in Marlborough, Cloudy Bay is a bona fide icon. This status was cemented in 2003 when it was bought by Louis Vuitton Möet Hennessey, a move that placed it alongside titans of the industry like Château d’Yquem, Dom Pérignon, Glenmorangie, Krug, Ardbeg and Château Cheval Blanc. Now Cloudy Bay is one of the world’s most famous producers, an incredible feat for a winery that was only established in 1985. It achieved this through meticulous attention to detail and unmistakable regional expression.
