In 2018, Nike invited locals from New York City, Paris, London, Shanghai, Seoul, and Tokyo to design their own colorways on an Air Max model of their choosing. The finalists were then chosen by the public, with one winning design from each city. Representing Tokyo is this eye-catching colorway of the Air Max 1 by Yuta Takuman. It features bold black and white maze graphics across the leather upper inspired by the labyrinthine design of Tokyo and its dense population. Tie-dye laces add a splash of color, while detachable “Tokyo Maze” tongue tags add another unique touch. “Tokyo Maze” text is also visible underneath the smoky translucent grey outsole.
