This SS19 we saw the hottest upcoming trends hit the catwalk providing endless inspiration for the season ahead. What became apparent as models walked the runway was the importance of colour and pattern, or lack thereof, within the collections.

Two key trends are set to shape our Spring wardrobe; bold, bright displays of colour and pattern or muted, monochromatic shades of neutrals. The likes of Marni, Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors and Versace took the maximalist route playing on colour and pattern in a big way to make a bold statement on the runway. Designers such as Givenchy, Tibi, Tom Ford and Burberry all took a more minimalist approach within their collections walking their models down the runway in a range of neutral tones.

We are looking to both of these key trends for this season and have put together some serious spring styling inspiration, so whether you are a minimalist or maximalist there is something here for everyone.

Beige Haze

neutrals, nudes, trend

Gone are the days where being beige is a bland or a colour that existed exclusively in your Grandma’s wardrobe. Being the key colour of SS19 it showed up amongst the collections of designers such as Tom Ford, Tibi and Ermanno Scervino. Whether it was a classic camel or army khaki, neutral tonals of every shade headed down the runway establishing it as one of this season’s key trends.

What is great about this trend is how versatile you can be within the colour palette, keeping it chic with a tailored look or cool with a relaxed boilersuit. To really play up this trend we suggest wearing head-to-toe neutrals, contrasting tones and texture for maximum impact. Neutrals doesn’t have to mean boring, styling the look with a pop of bright colour or pattern within your accessories can really inject some fun and elevate your look.

Print 'n' Mix

Mix and match prints that clash has been the mantra for some designers this season. Usually a fashion don’t has become a definite do this Spring, mixing bold and colourful prints for the ultimate maximalist look. Designers such as Michael Kors, Marni and Versace made a statement on the runway layering and clashing prints, patterns and colour to the max. This trend may look OTT but with some of our chosen favourites you’ll be making it your OOTD this Spring.

This trend is all about being bold and braving it, the more colour and pattern your outfit has the better! Mixing contrasting separates is a great way to pull off the pattern clash trend and provides endless outfit opportunities to mix and match with your existing wardrobe basics for a more casual look. Another great way to nail this season’s trends is to wear them all-in-one with a patchwork print dress by Topshop which mixes animal print and bold colour for the ultimate contrast combination.
