DOTG, as we lovingly call it, was an idea that was born when we stumbled upon an opportunity to do something meaningful and make a difference to the vulnerable and marginalised communities in India. We feel that a way to do this is to help artisans, especially women, in these communities using Fair Trade principles as guidelines. As a sister affiliate of CFM Market Linkages, a WFTO certified organisation, we source our products from artisan communities that have passed on their skills through the ages and are keen to nurture their cherished traditions and crafts. Each product that you purchase from DOTG is a testimony of the love and dedication exhibited by our artisans and tells a story of how lives can be changed Our mission Our goal is to support the development of our primary stakeholders – the artisan communities. There is a growing market for handcrafted goods worldwide and, through Fair Trade, we would like to enable our artisans to access this market. We believe that, together, we can start a movement to improve the lives of several artisans by providing them with stable incomes and self-sufficiency. Sustainable Employment and Fair Trade The ethos of DOTG is one of Fair Trade and sustainability. We give our artisans and their crafts the respect that is due to them, making them part of our growing family. Time is devoted to train our artisans to ensure that they have sustainable jobs and new skills to carry with them through their lives. Women that are unable to leave their homes are given raw materials and tools to work from home, making communities more inclusive. Fair and equal wages, sustainable and ethical sourcing and safe work environments also fall under the umbrella of Fair Trade and are some of our key objectives. In our efforts to bring about change, we also provide after school programs for the children of artisan communities to ensure that their children have a bright future.

In 1993 Oscar Pinto founded Hervia, a trailblazing concept that was the first to stock debut collections from the late Alexander McQueen, as well as Helmut Lang and Hussein Chalayan.

The brand is named after Oscar’s mother, Hervia, and when the first shop opened in Manchester’s Royal Exchange it became a legendary fashion hang-out. Oscar was devoted to Vivienne Westwood’s iconoclastic style long before she became accepted into the mainstream and It wasn’t long before Hervia was named by Vogue as one of the UK’s finest designer stores.

Dramatically, the first Hervia was destroyed when an IRA bomb wreaked devastation on Manchester in 1996.

Undaunted, Oscar went on to become hugely successful retailers of Vivienne Westwood, opening seven stores throughout the UK. Now they have decided to re-launch the original concept as Hervia aiming not only to fill the design gap that seems to have opened up in the UK’s north west but to support and promote high-end fashion and British design talent to a worldwide clientele via the Hervia website. It is here you’ll find designer clothing for both men and women that have been chosen for their outstanding design quality, exclusivity and above all, because they should make the wearer feel utterly amazing.

In 2011, Hervia joined forces with Adidas Y-3 to launch the first Adidas Y-3 flagship store in the UK. Based in London, in the Mayfair shopping district Hervia and Y-3 have worked together to bring the largest selection of the Y-3 products, trainers and footwear to the UK market.

IMI uses deadstock fabric to create limited edition pieces, so be sure not to miss out when our collections drop! “Deadstock” refers to obsolete inventory that hasn’t sold and has a high likelihood of not selling in the future – we prevent more fabric from entering landfills by using these unwanted textiles to make clothes bought and appreciated by conscious consumers like you.

Who are our manufacturers?

One of the largest obstacles towards a more sustainable future is transparency. In our search for ethical suppliers, we struggled to find a clothing manufacturer that could be upfront and honest with their practices. After a long journey, we have partnered with The Atelier Chiang Mai, a clothing company based in northern Thailand. The Atelier has consistently maintained safe working conditions for their employees and pays them double the national minimum wage. You can read more about them here.
