For our readers who might be hearing about your blog and Instagram for the first time, could you tell us a bit more about when and why you started ?

In 2013, I was a young single adult taking life by the horns! There were fashion trends, travels, love, heartache, friendship make up/ break ups, etc. all of the above (plus more) I was trying to keep up with.  So I turned to writing as an outlet to dissect, reflect &  ultimately inspire and that’s how Notesbycheeia was created.  Present day, my blog has evolved just as I have evolved from singleness to riding the waves of motherhood.

Your blog explores your love of all things fashion, travel, lifestyle and motherhood. How best do you balance all these things in your life?

My love for fashion, travel, lifestyle and motherhood is a true reflection of who I am so it’s like that saying “if you do what you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” That’s how I feel about everything I share in my blogs so it all comes second nature on a daily.  When it comes to traveling with my little humans, that definitely requires a little more planning ahead.  So with being a new mom I often find tips and inspiration from communities of other mom bloggers to help in this area.

What does it take to be a successful influencer? Do you have any tips or tricks you have learnt over the years?

There are two things I hold myself accountable for. The first thing is… Consistency! As a blogger you’ll hear this all the time, but if you’re able to consistently post 4/5 times a week your social media presence is obviously stronger.  Another major tip is to network, network, and network! You have to get out there and meet people. That means attending live events to meet other bloggers and joining online blogging communities.  A bonus tip, I highly encourage collaborating with bloggers who have a larger community than you and pick at their brains!

You also have had success as a coach for all things blogging and Instagram. Tell us a little bit about these sessions and what they offer.

Thank you for this question! I am currently offering courses for those who want to start blogging or have been blogging for awhile and want to take it to the next level!  I currently offer my personal PR templates, PR contact lists for the most sought after brands & one on one Skype meetings.  These sessions have been super successful in helping my students build a solid IG following so they can beginning collaborating with brands for a paid partnership.

Congratulations on the arrival of your second baby at the start of this year. How has life changed for you since becoming a mum of two?

Life just got more full.  It’s double the work and time but double the blessings and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  Though I can hardly catch a break – I have to give a huge kudos to my husband who gives his 100% so I can pursue other endeavors such as graduate school.

You talk quite candidly about the many facets of motherhood on your blog. What would you say is the best piece of advice you could give on what you’ve learnt for any new or expecting mums that may be reading.

Motherhood is a much easier journey when you have a community of mamas behind you. The challenges you’ll face as a new mom or new expecting mom is unexplainable but believe it when I say the struggles are real. Having a support group will not only help you get through the challenges but the amount of encouragement you’ll need & receive is gold.

As a mum to two daughters, what one piece of style and fashion advice would you pass on to them?

Less is always more. Don’t follow trends – wear whatever makes you feel confident and beautiful! Our bodies go through unbelievable changes with pregnancy and post pregnancy, so don’t be afraid to try a new style you never would have given a chance otherwise.

What are your thoughts on sustainable fashion?

More recently I’ve taken a more mindful approach to researching brands and understanding the back story of where, what, how and who is producing the clothes we wear. I am for sustainable fashion but in honesty, it’s just not as readily accessible or if it is, it costs 100x more than something similar to it. I try to do my part by being a minimalist and buying less pieces that can be more versatile.
