London Fashion Week transforms the city every season with innovative collaborations, independent fashion brands, new collection launches and crazy-creative art pop ups. With the endless list of events and after parties, it can be tricky to know what exactly to expect for the week, and to help you out, we gathered the most exciting projects to look out for during the SS19 shows.

1. Say hello to robotic models…

Over the last few years, technology has slowly started to change the fashion industry from the unique production processes to futuristic collaborations on creative projects, and now, it’s taking over the actual catwalks as well. This London Fashion Week, we will be meeting robotic models (alongside human models) as the result of the cooperation of OhmniLabs and Honee, which is giving us serious West World vibes. “The name of the show is ÁI’, as in Artificial Intelligence and also, a play on the Vietnamese & Chinese word for love. It’s not about the future of robots or of a world unknown, but of the presence, the NOW.” – said the founder of Honee about the project.

2. …and goodbye to real fur

The British Fashion Council announces a fur-free LFW

After years of protests against fur and various brands such as Gucci banning fur, the no-fur movement has officially taken over this LFW as the British Fashion Council confirms the event is going to be completely fur-free this season. Banning fur from the runway, and therefore stopping fur being purchased during the debut of collections, is a huge achievement towards cruelty-free and ethical fashion. Supporters of the movement, including Paloma Faith and (of course) PETA have all expressed their happiness about the “new direction” of fashion.

3. You can easily get your hands on a Molly Goddard design

If you are a fan of delicate, fragile clothing mixed with vibrant colours and lots of character, we have good news for you: Molly Goddard, the winner of 2017 BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund will be the mastermind behind this year’s London Fashion Week Festivals’s limited edition tote bags. Although we haven’t seen any previews or sneak-peaks so far, we are absolutely sure we won’t be disappointed with this year’s tote bags!

We’ve all been dreaming of getting relaxing breaks during fashion week, and this year, Anya Hindmarch is bringing the world’s largest bean bag to the lavish Banqueting House between 14-16th September. The “Chubby Cloud” room will also host various fashion industry talks from insiders such as Poppy Delevingne, Amelia Freer and Imran Amed, while being surrounded by comfort and luxury.

5. Burberry goes experimental

The new Burberry logo

Without a doubt, the Burberry catwalk is always one of the most popular shows during London fashion week, and with the creative direction of Riccardo Tisci, we can expect even more exciting news than the usual. After the re-branding the iconic Burberry logo, the luxury brand has also announced that their collection will be available for customers on their Instagram straight after the show. Although the brand has already introduced an innovative runway-to-retail model in September 2016, the new, online shopping option might change their whole buyer dynamics in London.

6. Victoria Beckham takes over Piccadilly Circus

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Victoria Beckham is bringing her new collection debut to London instead of New York with it’s limited edition T-shirt, amazing photo campaign shot by Juergen Teller, and live ads and streaming at Piccadilly Circus! Victoria shared the news on her Instagram with the caption “So excited to be celebrating a decade of my brand with the iconic Piccadilly Lights! So much more exciting news to come…x VB”

7. Emerging & independent designers are taking over the runways

After Richard Quinn’s iconic show last year, we can expect to see more independent fashion brands and more rising talents in the spotlight, especially during the London Fashion Week Festival (20-23rd September), where you can also attend presentations, designer talks and fun after parties. If you want something truly refreshing with over 150 independent fashion brands, don’t miss out on Fashion Week Festival!

8. Being in one room with serious coffee-addicts

Over 30,000 cups of coffee are served during LFW

After finance stats and technology innovation, it’s time to talk about something more fun – coffee. During LWF, on average 30,000 cups of coffee are served (which, after seeing how hectic and busy the backstage can be, is not surprising at all) for the clients and employees, so don’t worry about your coffee fix during the shows.
